Newcomers

This ministry welcomes newcomers into the St. Michael's Community. We welcome everyone who would like to share the love of God and Community!

Outreach

St. Michael's Episcopal Church is committed to Outreach in our community,
 our nation and our world."

The Outreach Commission at St. Michael’s is setting a direction for Christian service to others in both our community and the world.  Christ’s command to love our neighbors as ourselves is the motivating power behind our parish mission statement.

Lots of excitement in St. Michael's Outreach program

Heifer International -   Program will run Feb through Mothers Day.     We are pairing with the church school children and they will be trying to fill their 'arks' with change for Heifer.     Our donation level will be reflected on the bulletin board as we start collecting.

Prevail, Inc.  -  we will once again assist Prevail, Inc. with filling their Easter baskets.     We will begin collecting candy and small toys/stuff animals for the baskets.

Hamilton Centers -  we hope to participate in their annual clean-up day - helping them inside and outside at the home.    We plan on sponsoring 1 girl and her baby again this year - the sponsorship level is $3,000.   The home welcomed their first baby since opening the facility.     We are looking into another Christmas in July 'shower' for the home to purchase some new items, that need replaced/replenished.  They are also moving their office facilities and we hope to participate by helping them with this move - packing, etc.

We're talking about either purchasing backpacks again OR assisting families in 2 local schools with their book fees this year - updates to follow.

We will be checking with the parks department to see if we can help with cleanup there, as a group.

Come join us at St. Michael’s as we reach out to serve our community, our world, our God.

Pastoral Care Ministries

Pastoral Care Ministries

Call the parish administrator, Sherry Reed, at 773-6157 to schedule pastoral care.  Call Fr. Lee Schaefer in case of a pastoral emergency and for counseling.  The ministries to help in time of need are…

Public Prayer…Giving St. Michael’s permission to place one’s name on prayer lists such as the worship bulletin, newsletter, or prayer board.  Voiced prayers are said at the worship services.

Intercessory Prayer…Private prayers on behalf of others by a dedicated group.  They meet on Monday mornings.

Visitors…Visits from a friend in Christ when one is homebound or at a health care facility.  Upon request, the visit can include receiving Holy Eucharist and/or a brief worship service.

Meals to Members…Home cooked meals delivered with a smile to one’s home.  Meals can also be provided for parish events.

Helping Hands…Assistance with daily living from a fellow parishioner.  Services include running errands, transportation for doctors’ appointments, and house cleaning.   Also includes knitting gifts and sending greeting cards to lift one’s spirits.

Spiritual Direction…Monthly meetings with a spiritual companion to discern and intentionally respond to God’s presence in your life.

Our part in the Mission: Serving God by caring for the Parish Family.

Small Groups

Many parishioners of St. Michael's meet in small groups in homes during the week for study and fellowship. All members are encouraged to belong to a small group. Please contact us for information about getting connected to a small group!

Worship Ministries

Music

St. Michael's has two active choirs under the direction of our Music Staff. The Adult Choir sings each Sunday at the 10:30 service and our Children's Choir sings once a month at the 10:30 service. Choir does not meet during the summer months.

Acolytes

Acolytes are generally young people who serve the priest at the Altar. They are also known as Servers, or Altar Boys or Altar Girls. Training is provided for this important ministry.

Chalicist

Chalicists assist the priest in the service by distributing the wine (The Blood of Christ) to the people after the priest has distributed the bread (The Body of Christ). Chalicists are licensed by the Diocese and trained at St. Michael's.

Altar Guild

Altar Guild members prepare the Altar for each service and clean it afterwards. They also set up the Church for many of our special services.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors

Lay Eucharistic Visitors are licensed by the Diocese to take pre-consecrated communion to the sick or shut-in.

Readers

Readers read one or more of the lessons at our services and also the Prayers of the People.

Ushers

Ushers help people into the Church, pass out bulletins, take up the collection, and direct people up and back from communion. We have a Junior Usher program as well for children.

Greeters

Greeters welcome people into the door of the Church each Sunday and direct visitors to the proper place. They also host our coffee hour following the 10:30 service.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
