Boy Scouts of America, Troop 183

St. Michael’s is an avid supporter of the Boy Scouts. In January 1983, St. Michael’s was chartered by the Boy Scouts of America to establish Troop 183. The number reflected the month and year of the troop’s incorporation. Since that time, Troop 183 has provided opportunities for a large number of boys to develop life and leadership skills.

Community service is a major component of the Scouting program. This is particularly true of those individuals seeking Scouting highest rank, Eagle Scout. Troop 183 Eagle Scout projects have included blood drives, building improvements at the Red Cross, playground equipment and furniture construction for St. Michael’s, landscaping and garden projects for schools and churches in Noblesville, and the construction of a bridge in Cool Creek Park. In its 24 year history, Troop 183 has produced 38 Eagle Scouts.

Regardless of rank, Troop 183 has taught young men to display leadership and value service to others. The troop has been blessed with strong adult involvement.  Not all young men in the troop have been members of our church. St. Michael’s is proud of, and committed to, our support of Scouting and the role it plays in the lives of young men.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
