From the Pastor's Desk |
Fall is here already! I cannot believe that our children are already back in school! Fall has always been an exciting time of transition for me. When I was young, getting school supplies and getting ready to move on to the next grade. When I had children getting them ready for school. Now to have Sarah entering her last semester of college and our son Nic his final year of law school is incredible! Here at St. Michael's we are begining transitions as well. Sunday school begins September 12th with games, prizes with hamburgers and hot dogs! This should be a wonderful day and I hope you will be sure to join us! We will advertise to our neighborhood all the new offerings here at St. Michael's as we continue to strive to be disicples of Christ and invite others to become disciples through daily prayer, weekly worship, regular Bible study, having a spiritual friend, giving to and outside the church. This past summer we have been blessed with many wonderful artists sharing their talents with us. Michael Davis' singing of the Our Father on July 25th and John Holloways joining with Steve Murphy on the piano on August 15th are just two examples of wonderful gifts of music shared with us. As we move now into the fall our service schedule will continue! We will have services at 8am, 9:30am and 10:30am. The 8am service will continue to last about 45 minutes with no music. We will have cinammon rolls and coffee after this service upstairs. At our 9:30am contemportary service we will continue to offer a nursery beginning at 9:15 am and this service concludes at 10am we will then follow our service with breakfast and then Sunday school for all ages. This service will have communion on the last Sunday of each month. At our 10:30am service we will have more traditional music with communion every Sunday. We continue to explore how to use our space here at St. Michael's more creatively! We are certainly blessed with many opportunities to reach out and help others! Our vegtable garden continues to bear fruit. We have given away literally hundreds of tomatoes and we continue to produce tomatoes and cucumbers. We have had several bushels of corn, many radishes, potatoes, and some snow peas. I have enjoyed watching our garden grow and flourish over these past few months, a living reminder of God's providence. I am, Yours in Christ,

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. |
